El nobel de Economía Paul Krugman no ve con optimismo el futuro de la eurozona a no ser que Alemania cambie sus políticas de austeridad, que la cancillera Angela Merkel ha impuesto con severidad a sus socios europeos. Krugman vaticina en el blog que escribe para The New York Times la salida de Grecia del euro, cosa que sucederá "muy posiblemente el próximo mes".
La salida de Grecia de la eurozona provocará la retirada de "grandes cantidades de dinero" de los bancos de España e Italia ya que los clientes tratarán de mover su dinero hacia Alemania. Esta retirada de capital, prosigue Krugman, podría provocar que el Estado --el español y el italiano-- impusiera controles y prohibiera a los bancos tranferir depósitos fuera del país y que limitara la cantidad que los clientes podrían retirar de sus cuentas, el conocido como corralito.

Ante esta situación, vaticina el nobel de Economía, el BCE inyectaría grandes cantidades de dinero para evitar el colapso financiero.

Según Krugman, la clave para evitar este escenario apocalíptico está en Alemania, que debería adoptar una "drástica revisión de su estrategia" y rebajar las exigencias a España especialmente y a Italia para que pueda cumplir sus objetivos de déficit. Si Alemania no elige esta opción, El economista vaticina "el fin del euro". Y todo ello ocurrirá "en meses, no en años".

The Nobel economist Paul Krugman is optimistic about the future of the eurozoneunless Germany change austerity policies, which Chancellor Angela Merkel hasseverely tax its European partners.
