Argentina’s Frustrating Fight against Money Laundering        By Daniel Santoro* Argentina has been losing the fight against money laundering. This crime is increasingly affecting the health of Argentina's economy and, most of all, it has been impairing the  effectiveness of its justice system. Thanks to the problems plaguing the justice system, Argentina has the dubious honor of not having a single person behind bars for money laundering, the only country in the world to achieve such a distinction. Despite the fact that the number of drugs seized by police grows every year, along with arrests for tax evasion and political corruption, the lack of adequate laws, the inefficiencies of the government, along with other factors allows money launderers to continue to operate with impunity. From 2006 until the present, the Financial Information Unit (UIF -- Unidad de Información Financiera) filed 837 reports about suspicious operations (ROS -- Reportes de Operaciones Sospechosas)
