Princeton University Art Museum

Collections

Founded in 1882, the Princeton University Art Museum is one of the leading university art museums in the country. From a founding gift of a collection of porcelain and pottery, the collections have grown to over 72,000 works of art that range from ancient to contemporary art and concentrate geographically on the Mediterranean regions, Western Europe, China, the United States, and Latin America.

This resource represents a portion of the Museum’s collection. Information about the artworks may change as the result of ongoing research. If you are planning to visit Princeton, please note that not all artworks are on view at all times.

Study access to works of art not on public display is available to faculty, students, and qualified scholars by appointment. Please contact the appropriate curator to schedule a study appointment.
